Welcome

Welcome to the Seventh-day Adventist Abuse Response website.  We are a team of professionals and lay people who are committed to addressing the problem of abuse in the Adventist Church.  Our headquarters is located in Southern Adventist University’s (SAU) School of Social Work. The team is comprised of SAU faculty and staff members from multiple disciplines, pastors, and community church members.  This diverse group is dedicated and commited to ending domestic violence in the Adventist Church.

The director of the team is René Drumm, Ph.D., who also serves as the dean of the School of Social Work at SAU.  She has done extensive research on the prevalence and impact of abuse in the Adventist Church.  Our mission is to help the church create a caring response to abuse through education and support.

Abuse can come in many forms.  It can include physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.  Physical pain can often heal but the mental, emotional, and spiritual effects can last a lifetime.  Our team is seeking to help educate people who come in contact with abuse victims on how to effectively help them.  If we can help even one person who is suffering from domestic violence then our work has not been in vain.  No one deserves to be abused.
